Circus Convergence
Debate and specialized training sessions
This initiative has arisen from the circus sector’s need for spaces for debate and deep reflection as well as specialized learning. The initiative proposes two types of circus activities: debate and specialized training.
The professionalization of contemporary circus in Spain has been carried out from the praxis, from the day-to-day needs that must be met. At this moment of maturity, we believe that the sector needs spaces for thought and training that provide the necessary help to take a step forward and to propose new options or points of view arising from reflection and sharing, not just out of necessity.
We believe that the context in which the profession is exercised determines the needs of each professional and we intend to respond with trainers and speakers who know and share this same reality, recognized professionals who are active in a territory with the same conditions.
Debate sessions
The topics to be debated in the programmed conferences are planned taking into account topics of general interest of the sector in which two days of work can bear fruit, either a declaration of intentions, a roadmap or simply a summary of doubts. These days also include artistic actions to incorporate artists in the debates.
Specialized training
The training courses we propose are aimed at working professionals, offering a new space for specialization and reflection on their own professional activity. There is a need for constant renewal and we want to offer a space for professional learning, both at an artistic level as well as at other levels such as management, technique, lighting, etc.
The Space
La Bau is an independent space for professional cultural work open to host artístic and technical projects in Les Franqueses del Vallès (Barcelona). It’s an space and a group of professionals with diferent backgrounds in performing arts specializing in circus.
